Willshire Scores on Her Debut
27th October
2006 |
|
Colchester
travelled to Norwich with 5 first team regulars missing through
injury or holiday but played their best football of the season to
come home with a 2-0 win. The only surprise was that they didn't win
by a bigger margin. New signing from Sophtlogic, Kerry
Willshire, immediately proved her value by putting the U's ahead
in the 40th minute and netting her first goal for the club.
Kate Longhurst added the second in the 81st minute to put the
U's back on top again.

Game of Musical Chairs
16th October
2006 |
|
It
was a game of two defences on Sunday as the Tractor Girls once again
proved their quality holding the U's to a 0-0 draw. The two
teams battled on tirelessly but were unable to break the deadlock
despite Ipswich's no1 goal scorer, Helen Bass, coming dangerously
close in the 2nd half and the U's lively left back, Jade Morgan,
forcing a great save by the Ipswich Keeper. The otherwise
uneventful game saw the U's, having kept the driving seat warm for
the past week for Northampton, relinquish top spot and carry on the
game of musical chairs with the Cobblers whose 3-0 win at Norwich
puts them firmly back on top and sends the U's back down to 2nd
place. |

COE Put in Best Performance Yet
16th October
2006 |
The
blues came to visit Colchester today as the Centre of Excellence
performed well against a strong, organised Chelsea outfit.
Results are not the focus for the Centre of Excellence squads and
head coach, Dmitri Halajko was really pleased with the effort and
commitment shown by the U's youngsters.
The U10s had there best
performance to date matching Chelsea and showing they continue
improvement in this hard first season at COE level.
