Female Academy

Following the ongoing development of the Female Development Programme at the Colchester United Community Sports Trust (CUCST), plans were formulated and implemented to allow previous hopes of establishing a Female Academy to become a reality.

Now into its third year, the programme has forged a working partnership with the Thrustable Sports College, CUCST's dream of delivering a top quality Female Football Academy have now been realised.

The Academy programme enhances provision and opportunity for female footballers by offering post sixteen education courses and a structured football, team based coaching programme.  Providing exit routes beyond the current Excellence progamme and increasing the standard of the women's game locally, regionally and nationally are key targets in addition to ensuring students can access higher education beyond the completion of the Academy programme.

The programme also provides sports coaching/leadership courses, specific football coaching courses and practical football coaching experience to support the main programme thrusts and to provide all students with a broad 'education' encapsulating many career/further-studying pathways.
