Bedford
re-ignited their league campaign with a fine
win over league leaders Colchester United,
breaking their un-beaten run of four games.
Bedford dominated the play from the first
kick in the first half and although didn’t
create many chances passed the ball with
ease. The break though came when Striker
Ali Hayes found herself rounding the
keeper. She then came back from the by-line
and curled in an un-stoppable lob from 20
yards out. Bedford doubled their lead 10
minutes later when Lesley-Ann Seaman charged
down a lose ball from the keeper. Ali Hayes
picked up the loose ball and rammed home her
second. And Bedford made the points safe
when Lesley-Ann pounced on a parried save to
make it 3-0 at half time.
Although
Colchester came out brightly in the second
half and made Bedford work for their
victory, their gaol 10 minutes from time was
only a consolation. Laura Dunn was
magnificent working tirelessly in the centre
of mid-field with Phillipa Copley and Kelly
Bingham doing the same on each wing.
Bedford travel to local rivals Langford on
Sunday with hope of keeping their momentum
going.
