Brighton were today’s guest at Shrub
End bringing there U12, U14 and U16
to play against the Colchester
teams. Unfortunately they were
unable to bring the U10s this time.
The Under 12s got a draw.
Paige Wakefield scored
Colchester’s goal with an amazing
volley from near the half way line.
Player of The Match
Ellen Powles was
outsnading in a game that Colchester
had enough chance to win but it
ended 1-1.
The Under 14s were beaten 6-2 in a
disappointing performance. One
bright point was
Kat
Nutman’s 2 goals and
Player of the Match Performance.
The Under 16s started very well.
F
Swales lobbing the goal
keeper from the edge of the area in
the first minute to put Colchester
1-0 up. When Colchester moved the
ball quick and passing well they
always looked a threat to the
Brighton’s goal.
L
Mellors covered well
winning an important tackle to stop
brightens best attack of the half.
In the second half great movement
for strikers
F
Swales and
S
Redford were causing
Brighton problems and they were put
through with some good passing by
L
Kent and
H
Mellia. However
Colchester couldn’t add to the early
lead and were made to pay in the
last few minutes of the game.
Brighton pushed forward with a rare
attack and a great shot from outside
the box rattled the cross bar. The
Brighton striker was the first to
react tapping home the rebound from
close range. 1-1 was the final score
the Colchester team will
disappointed with the 2 points
dropped but can be encouraged by
some of the football they played.
